Massage and Your Energy System

By · Tuesday, February 1st, 2011

The human body is a mass of energy! Examples of this can be seen throughout the body. For instance the nervous system is an energy system in the body; its operations are studied by measuring electrical fields generated during the transmission of nerve impulse. Pulses of electrical and magnetic energy begin in the brain before any movement occurs. Pulsing magnetic fields can be admitted from the human hand under certain conditions. And Imaging techniques have enabled scientist to map the pattern of light and heat emitted by cells, tissue, organs, and the whole body. You can do a simple test of this principle and prove it as being fact for yourself. Simple rub your hands together as fast as you can for 20 seconds and you will begin to feel the heat that is created, this is body energy.

Both the mechanical and reflexive styles of massage influence the energy component of the body. In addition to massage therapy there are many forms of body work that practice the art of influencing the energy of the body that have been researched including yoga, Qigong, tai chi, meditation and Reiki for example. Therapeutic massage stimulates the nervous system and applies pressure on the connective tissue to produce a measurable energy current in the body, which has significant influence of the body’s ability to achieve and maintain a state of wellness. This is why most people report an increase in their energy level after receiving a massage. Once the energy in your body has been unblocked the body no longer has to ration out your energy supply, therefore you feel more rejuvenated.
